A Special Meeting of the Woodbridge Township Board of Education is scheduled to be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 convening at 6:00 p.m. in Conference Room A of the Administration Building, 428 School Street, Woodbridge, NJ, at the conclusion of the public portion, the Board will retire to Closed Session. Middlesex County College will hold virtual workshops during Explore Middlesex MonthFuture. Students can learn all about Middlesex County College academic offerings, student services, campus life and the nuts and bolts how to apply and pay for college. A series of evening workshops will be held over Zoom in January.

Highlights from the 12/17/20 Board Meeting:
• CHS Football collected over 190 toys and $75 for the Toys for Tots toy drive.
• Students - N. Galicia, J. Lubas, M. Riaz collected and delivered 50 bags of food to the St. James Food Pantry.
• 2020 Veterans Day Essay Winners Grade 4: 1st–D. Finnerty; 2nd–T. Wisniewski; 3rd–S. Gesmeria.
• 2020 Exemplary Educators: H. Ludlow, S. Samano, M. Sepa-LaFemina.
• The WHS JROTC program received Honor with Distinction (HUD) status for 2020-2021.
• Pizza Vita proprietors, R. Flores & E. Santorelli provided complimentary pizzas to the students at the RISE program.
• Mr. Sanil Namibar organized the Sewa Diwali food drive held at School #18 on 11/28 donating 10,000 lbs. food to “We Feed Woodbridge”.
• Touchdown Club of Colonia members, T. Ciencin, T. Howard, and D. Testa assisted with collecting toys for the Toys for Tots toy drive.
• Revisions made to 2020-2021 Student Calendar: 1/28 and 1/29 full days for HS students; 6/1 full day for all students; 6/8 early dismissal for all students https://5il.co/h67e

• Approval of the amended funding application for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA/ESSA) Consolidated Grant in the amount of $6,608,272.

• Approval for the continuation of the “Web Design” pilot program at CHS.
• CHS applied for $10,000 Sustainable for Jersey Schools grant to build rain gardens to enhance the surrounding environment.
• CHS applied for an additional $2,000 Sustainable for Jersey Schools grant for the plantings to be used in the rain gardens.
• JFKMHS applied for $10,000 Sustainable for Jersey Schools grant to procure an outdoor water bottle re-fill station.
• Contract awarded for supply and installation of new lockers at CHS
