At School 18, we celebrate Start With Hello Week. It is a program created by the Sandy Hook Promise Organization which is a national call-to-action dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth.
The idea is simple - every student is greeted everyday which allows them to feel seen, cared for and connected to our School and community. During this week we ask community members to come to Indiana Avenue Elementary School and join us in greeting our students each day. Students get very excited and feel very important when they see community members take the time to be a part of this special week.
During this week you and your children may see more police officers and firefighters in the morning. They are here to greet everyone and lend a helping hand. In light of continuing safety concerns around the country I want to alleviate any fears you may have seeing the police and firefighters at the school next week.
