Dear Kennedy Park Parent(s)/Guardian(s):
Since our weather has been very unpredictable and spring hopefully will be coming soon I wanted to send this reminder for you to administer your child’s allergy medications before coming to school. We have been having very windy days and that causes pollen and other allergens in the air to cause itchy eyes, runny noses, and sneezing. Please also remember to dress your child appropriately for the conditions since classroom teachers try to venture outside for walks or playtime.
Please also be advised of other illnesses/viruses such as the stomach virus. Each morning, I check attendance and have noticed that we have been getting an increased number of absences due to stomach issues/virus. Please keep your child home if they have vomited or have had 2 or more episodes of diarrhea. Your child needs to remain home for at least 24 hours if they have had these symptoms and remain home until symptoms have resolved without medication.
If you have any questions on whether to send your child to school, please call me or use the nurse REMIND to contact me. I will try my best to call if your child has been out 2 days or more to see how they are, and if you should need anything. Please continue to call the attendance line and provide the reason for the absence as well as symptoms your child is experiencing.
Thank you being proactive in helping us keep Kennedy Park a healthy place to learn.
Sincerely,
Kristine Rapczynski, MEd.,BSN, RN
