Dear Woodbine Ave Elementary School Community:
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. Our teachers and staff are already working hard to prepare the school for the children. We are so excited to start the new school year and see all of our students again.
Most of the information you will need for the beginning of the school year can be found on our district website. Here are a few items to review to make the first days of school easier:
- School supply lists can be found here: https://www.woodbridge.k12.nj.us/article/782553
- Meals are NOT free this this year unless you qualify. Free or reduced meal applications and meal information, including menus and meal prices, can be found here: https://www.woodbridge.k12.nj.us/page/cafeteria-food-services
- All of your child’s school information can be found on the Genesis parent portal. The portal should have current information, including your child’s schedule, free lunch status, and bus information. You can create or access an account here: https://parent.woodbridge.k12.nj.us/woodbridge/parents
- The first day of school is usually a little hectic, since many parents will be accompanying their child to school. Please be patient. We will have staff members outside the building directing parents to the correct door locations to enter the school. Please remember the following rules for arrival and dismissal:
- Doors will open at 8:45 am and close at 9:00 am every day. Late students report to the main office. Dismissal is at 3:30 pm.
- Parents vehicles are not allowed in the school parking lot. All cars must park on the street.
- Please park legally on the street. Do not park by the yellow curbs; if you do, you will block the busses.
- Parents are not allowed into the school buildings. Please say your good-byes outside the building.
- You best bet on the first day is arrive early so you can secure a legal parking spot.
- Some of our younger students, especially kindergarten students, may experience a little separation anxiety on the first few days of school. If your child gets upset, please allow our staff to escort your child into the school.
- Buses usually run a little late the first few days of school. This is because we double check the students on the bus. Please be patient in the morning and in the afternoon.
- We are emphasizing school security this year. In particular, we would like to prevent our front doors from being opened for deliveries, mail, and other visitors. If you must come to school, please make an appointment and be prepared to show valid ID at the door.
- Mark your calendars—Open House will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 6:00 pm.
I am back at work full time now, so if you have any questions, please call the school office at 732.602.8523.
Thank you and let’s have a great year!
