Dear Parent/Guardian,
I hope everyone is well and enjoying the fall weather. On Friday, October 29 2021, students may wear simple costumes to school. No costume masks or props for costumes will enter the classrooms. Please do not send props with our students. No inflatable or blow up costumes allowed. Just simple costume clothing. Due to current circumstances, there will be no parade, parties or candy exchanges. All students must still wear safety masks and the classes will continue to follow all social distancing procedures.
On Friday, October 29, 2021 at 6:00pm, our Oak Ridge Heights School Parent Teacher Organization will be hosting our annual TRUNK OR TREAT. Due to current circumstances, all participants must follow social distancing and mask requirements while on school property. The basic rule is if you are within 3 feet of another person, you need to wear a mask. All Staff, students and volunteers must wear masks.
Please do not send any treats or crafts to school. Our PTO will have a table set up at our Trunk or Treat for participants to drop their candy off.
Costumes are not mandatory. Please do not go overboard. I hope that we have some fun and a little bit of normalcy as we say goodbye to October.

Dear Kindergarten Parents and Guardians,
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend. Over the weekend, a fitting on the plumbing in Ms. Connolly’s room failed. Luckily, it was a fresh water fitting. Part of the carpet in the classroom is extremely wet. Ms. Connolly’s class will be moved to the All Purpose Room today and Tuesday. Regular instruction will continue. Once the classroom is thoroughly cleaned and dried, the students will return to their classroom. Ms. Connolly’s class will line up outside of their regular classroom and Ms. Connolly will walk her students to the all purpose room. Ms. Connolly will dismiss her class from the regular location next to the playground.
Thank you for your patience.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds everyone well. As most of us look forward to exciting fall, a break from humidity and cooler weather, please keep in mind that Covid-19 is still around. The children are doing a great job social distancing and with mask usage. I am very proud of our students and how resilient they are. Please note the following as we start to prepare plans and activities for the students:
• Students, staff, and visitors must follow all district guidelines regarding masks when in school. All students and staff and visitors must have their masks on in school.
• Volunteers are not allowed in classrooms with students during the school day. Any set up should be done before or after school so as to not interfere with the school day. As visitors, every one required to follow all district protocols. All Volunteers must also submit to the background check through our Security Office.
• We will be holding all events after school allowing parents to choose if they want their student to participate.
The School District will begin to issue badges for school volunteers for three weeks in October. Please see the information below:

September 2021
Dear Oak Ridge Heights Families,
We would like to officially welcome everyone to the 2021-2022 school year!! Our students have been back to school for two weeks now and hopefully everyone is getting acclimated accordingly.
We are looking forward to continuing the tradition of using the PTO to strengthen the relationships between parents, teachers, and our principal, Mr. Osborne.
The PTO meets once each month. Those dates/times are currently as follows; Every 3rd Tuesdays @ 5:30pm unless otherwise specified or subject to change: October 19th, November 16th, *December 14th, January 18th, February 15th, March 15th, *April 12th, May 17th,*June 14th.
We welcome all who wish to attend.
In addition to building relationships, the PTO raises money for the students in the school to help offset the costs of field trips, class parties, folders, planners, etc. for our students. We have also purchased air conditioners, funded school wide assemblies, planned and staffed field day, school dances, and started renovations on the Faculty Lounge for our amazing teachers and staff, plus more. It is only with the help of parents and guardians like you that we can continue to give our students and School 21 these extras.
The easiest way to help is by simply joining the PTO, if you have not already done so! We are striving for 100% membership participation this school year! If you have not already done so, please consider joining our School 21 ParentTeacherOrganization. We are fortunate to have many parents who offer their support in fundraising and volunteering for the many activities we host throughout the year and we look forward to being able to return to our normal operations as soon as it is safely possible to do so but we are working with the current guidelines to enable as many activities as possible for our students.
Thank you again for your continued support! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us, at ptocopresidents@gmail.com or attend one of our PTO meetings to have your voice heard. We look forward to a safe and successful year at School #21.
Warmest Regards,
Donna Hastrup & Jillian Gervasio

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As the weather gets cooler and less humid, many of our students like to play outside. Pedestrian safety is very important. Please reinforce this concept with our students as we enter and exit school property. I am asking everyone in our Oak Ridge Heights Community to utilize our crossing guard and to use crosswalks at all times. Our student’s safety is paramount, please lead by example.
Please be cognizant about parking in front of our neighbors driveway openings. Always check to make sure we leave enough room for our neighbors to enter and exit their homes.
Always remember that parents and guardians are not permitted to pull into the lots for drop off or pick up. Students entering and exiting school are excited to be with their friends and may run and move in unexpected ways. Parking is available on the streets adjacent to the school as indicated by the posted traffic signs.
I look forward to a very successful Fall season with you and your students. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me should you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Scott Osborne

Open House
Dear Parents/Guardians;
Good morning Oak Ridge Heights.
We are making every effort to have tonight’s Open House outside on the paved area by our playground. Chairs will be set up in groups of two with spacing between the pairs of chairs. If you wish to bring your own chair, you may. I am confident that everyone will social distance and utilize a mask if they are within 3 feet of each other. The Governor’s mandate is simple, on school property within 3 feet a mask is required. Inside the building, everyone is required to wear a mask.
If the weather does not cooperate, we will utilize our all purpose room. Chairs will be set up in rows. If possible, I am requesting one (1) Adult per student. When inside the building, everyone must wear a mask. When visiting the classrooms, masks must be worn at all times.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
Scott Osborne

Returning to School.
Dear Parents/Guardians;
I hope this letter finds everyone healthy, well rested and ready to return to school. I am looking forward to a return to full day in-person instruction.
By now you have received the Woodbridge Township School District’s: A Safe Return to School- Fall 2021 document from the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Joseph Massimino. Oak Ridge Heights School has adapted this protocol to suit the needs of our students and faculty and the logistics of our building. Throughout all of the planning, our main focus is, and has always been, the health and safety of our school community.
The following protocols will be implemented for the 2021-2022 school year at Oak Ridge Heights School:
1. All faculty and students will be masked indoors. Teachers will provide outdoor mask breaks as they deem necessary.
2. Students will eat lunch in their classroom. Students will be able to drop their mask to eat their lunch. We are lucky at Oak Ridge Heights School to have large classrooms. While unmasked and eating, the students will remain at least 3 feet apart. Recess will be outside, weather permitting. When outside, students will be able to remove masks but must maintain 3 feet of social distancing. Recess in the classroom will be masked. .
3. Physical Education classes will be held outside weather permitting. If the class is inside in the gymnasium, the students will be masked. The only exception to that rule is during aerobic activity. The physical education teacher will ensure that the students are socially distanced.
4. Our staff is encouraged to take the students outside for mask breaks, dining, recess and instruction, only when social distancing can be maintained.
This plan remains fluid as the Woodbridge Township School District must adhere to school safety guidelines and mandates set forth by the Governor of New Jersey. We will inform you if and when district and school protocols are adjusted.
Due to social distancing requirements, Drop Off and Pick Up procedures at Oak Ridge Heights School are as follows. The parking lot is Staff only until further notice. Please utilize Inman Avenue parking.
Drop off and Pick Up Procedures (Please see attached Map)
Students will report directly to their classrooms and enter via direct classroom entrance. At the conclusion of the school day, Pick Up will be at the same classroom door. Please keep in mind that everyone is expected to follow all social distancing practices while on school grounds.
The locations are as follows:
Ms. Forvour Door #2
Ms. Connolly Door #4
